Is there an error message? Can you quote it exactly?
I am quite confused by the terminology that you use. You talk about a "new sub directory" which I understand, but then you mention a temp directory, which I don't understand since as far as I know, Lightroom doesn't import to a temp directory, and then you mention a "primary" directory, which has been previously unmentioned and I don't understand that either. Please explain further.
