The pictures is 1920x1080 pixels and the camera is a Sony HDR-AS30V actioncamera. Has used this before with good result.

Normally a crash does not get solved by uninstall and reinstall. It does also not sound as if the settings would have an impact here.
Could you give some info about the jpg image size in pixels (height and width?) and maybe some info about which camera you used for this?
