Regarding your questions,
- The document was created using Latex/Miktex; converting Latex-created pdfs to word is my main concern;
- Word-created pdfs reconvert back to Word without any problem;
- I'm converting directly from within the Adobe reader; otherwise I'm using Google Chrome;
