I've had this problem for a while now and usually just grit my teeth, but I thought that maybe there might be a solution. Ok so in illustrator I'll use the text tool to type something, be it while using a text box or just plain text and while I'm typing, the text tool will change to another tool. Say I type "A" it'll change to the "Direct Selection Tool". Now what I'm assuming it's doing is using the shortcuts while I'm typing but it's rather annoying, especially if I try to type out a paragraph of text. My current solution makes typing in Illustrator a long and arduous task (ie. typing something out and continuously going back to the type tool anytime the tool automatically changes). Is there a way to turn off shortcuts for while I'm typing or is this just a weakness in Illustrator that I'll have to put up with? I'm using CS6 if that helps. Thanks for your input!
